Hi

I've been asked to install a distribution circuit from a 160amp service (3phase). At the moment there are 35mm tails terminating into single pole Henley blocks (100amp) via the utility meter, then from the Henley blocks several other distribution circuits are connected.

The total load of the distribution circuit I want to install is 40amps, looking at the other distribution circuits already installed they are supplied by 25mm tails from the Henley blocks and the switch gear is rated at 100amps.

As it is a submain I want to install with a max current of 40 amps is it OK to install 100amp switch gear or do I have to have the switch gear rated at 160a or above as it is connecting directly to the service?

Cheers
