Time Bell Cable Potential Usage Doorbell/Security Camera (USB)

Hi,

I purchased a Time twin strand bell cable with a rating of 12-30V, 2A, low voltage, not for mains use.

I wish to use this for installing our new Ring wired doorbell. We don't have an existing doorbell wired setup so it would need to conform to a DIN rail transformer specification of 24Vdc, 420mA or plug-in adapter specification of 24Vdc, 500mA.

To my understanding this wire would be more than suitable for the two options above? Of course the plug-in adapter would need to step down the voltage to 24Vdc, 500mA from the mains. Would this be correct?

We also have an additional security camera near the front which I rewired a while back to extend the cable, it is USB powered going into a plug of 5V 1AMP. I used quite a thick wire to extend it so would be looking to change it over to this same one just to be able to clip them both along the wall neatly and less intrusive (with the new Ring wired doorbell wire).

Just to round this all off, this wire can be used for anything that draws a max of 30V and 2A? So in theory ANY plug that would be rated as such or below?

Is everything at or below 30V and 2A considered low voltage - just trying to understanding what contingency the low voltage specification has on applications if at or below 30V is already low voltage if that makes sense? I can understand their not for mains use specification as that would be high voltage/way above the 30V limit!

Common mistake.

Mains voltage at 230V is deemed Low Voltage…. Anything under 50 (I think) is Extra Low Voltage

The twin bell wire will be fine for the Ring. They say you can use existing doorbell wiring which will be the same, possibly less quality than a brand new drum.

Be aware the Ring is powered by AC…. But the camera will be DC and polarity sensitive (+/-)

Would of assumed mains would be considered high voltage as that sort of voltage is lethal?

Regardless good to know the wire will work for my use case. Yes aware they can be wired using the same wiring unfortunately we don't have any, will be posting a follow up question as to the setup I am trying to figure out for the doorbell, as have a few queries in regards to that as well!

Low voltage is 50 to 1000VAC. As littlespark says, it's a common misunderstanding.
