find the joists, chip plaster from under joists and about 1" to each side. fish cable from one joist to another, wire up lights, clip cable to underside of joists, tub of poyfiller, bit of rag to blend to match artex if required, jobs a good'un.

Notching joists from the underside contravenes Building Regulations Part A & P (EGBR 10.1)
I was wondering why you have to use a Wago Junction box with Wago connector when Wiring in Down Lighters with Wago Connectors or any BOX with WAGO connectors when wiring Down Lighters
i use the 2" standard J/Bs, screw terms. H/R flex out to downlight. tried helacons, but old habits die hard.
Otherwise the connectors are not enclosed, which they should be
has been mentioned on the forum that the ashley type screw JBs are no longer allowed for downlights. Why? the only reason i can see is that they are not fixed to a joist, but then, neither are wago boxes fixed. can't be because they're screw terms. because they are accessible. any body shed light in this?
