I’ve got bad ballasts and am replacing the T12 fluorescent bulbs with Halco direct wire, double ended T8 LEDs. The fixture has 4Rapid start bulbs, 2 rapid ballasts and a 2 way switch. The ballasts were wired exactly like the “before” picture here. (Rapid Start Ballast Lampholder Wiring 2 and 4 Lamps - Electrical 101 - https://www.electrical101.com/series-ballast-diagrams.html) Note that I haven’t looked at the tombstones to check the wiring there, but the lights were in working order before the old ballasts started to fail.

I removed the ballasts and rewired them as shown here (Direct Wire Double-Ended LED Tube Lights 2 Lamps Electrical 101 - https://www.electrical101.com/direct-wire-dual-ended-led-tube-lights.html) for the rapid start diagram. I flipped the breaker, and nothing happened. I’ve only had 2 of 4 LED bulbs in at the time.

Any idea on what I’m doing wrong? I looked at the tombstones before cutting the wires and there did appear to be continuity. Some of my fluorescent lights would work better for a short period after removing and reinserting them, but they’d fade and flicker after a few minutes.
