Done ... and I think I just have been,![]()
We seem to have lost our engineer friend for some reason.
Or the education and ability to install armoured cablesthese present day Electrical Engineers just don't have the staying power.
OK chaps, since I'm a bit late to the ridicule party, and it's not really my thing anyway, here's a sensible answer to the issue of cable protection on exterior walls (if required):
19mm x 19mm Cable Guard - 2Mtr Length - Black
A TT system from at the garage end! - which is considerably more reliable than trusting 30m of CPC buried in the ground
Hmmm, Really?? Well if you say so, it must be right!!!!! I'll now have to re-evaluate the 100's of thousands of metres of cables i've had buried under the ground over the last 40+ odd years!! I guess the vast majority of all the other Electricians and Engineers will have to do the same now too!!
well with all you experience; is TT earthing arrangement on the garage end not sufficient - The steel armour will obviously be earthed at the CU (with RCD)
Why don't you trust a CPC buried yet will quite happily bury 2 live conductors?
You're digging yourself an even bigger hole now, ....why would you have an RCD at the supply end, when you're installing SWA cable?? Are you not installing a garage RCD CU at the load end of this cable??
I wouldn't install a TT system at a garage, unless their was no other way other than to TT it.
Not really - I obviously plan to use a RCD unit in garage - I know this may cause both house and garage to trip but I want RCD on the Garage board and we all know the SWA must hav RCD protection...right!
