    110v earth loop impedance

My test meter only works on 230v.... So... Is there a way of working out the Earth fault loop impedance on a 110v supply that is supplied by a hardwired 110v Centre tapped to earth transformer? Anyone else come across this. I have some additional 110v sockets to fit in a workshop but need to...

    Earth Fault Loop Impedance

Hi all, I am hoping someone can clarify if my understanding on earth fault loop impedance testing is correct. A low efli is needed so a protective decive can operate in the required time, the lower the z the quicker it will operate. ZE= External resistance from borad to supply, board...

Earth loop impedance test on 24v dc supply

Hi, Excuse my ignorance. I have a electrical panel with a 240v ac to 24 v dc rectifier. The outgoing circuit breaker is 63amp as the 24v d will be stepped up by a power supply unit in the next panel. Is an earth loop impedance test required for the 24 v dc supply? Thanks

    megger mft1730 earth loop reading

hi I was on a job testing incoming supply on a TT systems the earth loop reading was 2,53ohms now what my question is It was a 2 commer 53 i am guesting that means 2.53ohms if you test result are lower you get 0.12 (point )why does it change to a commer or am i reading it wrong

Loop in at The Switch - 3 Gang 2 Way

Hey, I've just past my trade test and was placed on a new build to complete the 2nd fix as the guy who roughed it has left. Anyway, he's wired the lights using the loop method at the switches, I've never did this previously as I would always do the joint at the ceiling rose, this has thrown me...

    Loop impedance test

Hopefully someone can answer this query for me. I'm more used to domestic installations but have taken on a job in a workshop. The workshop is around 80m away from the intake which is a 3 phase TN-C-S supply. The workshop is new but I'm using an existing 16mm 4 core SWA cable. I'm using the...

Best way to loop garden lights?

Evening all.. I have been asked to install 2 garden lights, the chap says most likely they will be spike lights in the ground. I was wondering how everyone loops them together? There will be SWA coming from the house to first light and also SWA linking 1st to 2nd light I have had a good look...

    Loop in/out or junction box

Hi , A quick question about wiring downlighters. I am wiring college rooms, it is on price, so its kind of a rush job. There are 3 downlighters all about a meter from each other in the ceiling. The way the contractor wants it done, is loop in, loop out, meaning 3 choc boxes and connector...

    loop impedence test

Hi guys I was wondering if someone can help me with a question on my 2394 paper it says: Why is it necessary to carry out an earth fault loop impedence test before carrying out an RCD test My answer: Because an earth fault loop impedance test will prove that there is a fault path to...

High Earth Fault Loop Impedance readings caused by RCDs

Hi everybody, I have encountered a problem with EFL (Zs) testing a couple of times recently. I have had unusually high readings for the length of circuit and earthing system type and the increase in impedance seems to be coming from resistance across the line pole of the RCD in the consumer...

240 but no earth loop impedance

I'm testing a job at the minute and today I went to a double socket that has 240 at it but when I carried out a ELI test the result is a open circuit .the 240 I am getting is between L-E and the means of earthing is TT ,it's a radial circuit supplied bu a 20amp breaker totally confused??????

Loop test with fluke three wire ??

Can anyone shed any light. Just done loop test with fluke L-N-E setting L-PE. Reading was 8.66 ohms. Have reported high reading to DNO who sent engineer out. He then tested two wire L-E and read 0.13 ohms. this iss not the first time with high reading on my tester and has recently been...

    Earth Faulth Loop Impedance HELP!!!

Hi can somebody shed some light upon correction factors for earth fault loop impedance. I know that the vales of zs in bs 7671 are if the conductors are running at max temp ie worst case scenario , am I right in believing that if you get a measured result you apply 0.8 to it?

max measured earth loop impedance query

Hi guys, Im just filling in my first ever solo EIC when I check the onsite guide and gn3 for max permitted zs (tabulated) for bs60898 type b 32A the table shows 1.16ohms but to me it didnt ring a bell, checking bs7671 table 41.3 shows max zs to be 1.44. Can anyone shed some light on why and...
