Hi Everyone, question. Have furnace in basement (nothing else in basement besides electrical panels - not finished basement). Inspector is saying furnace is required to be on arc fault breaker. Per NEC 210.12, I completely disagree. Any input would be most appreciated. Thanks

I read article 210.12 twice and it does not specifically say that a gas furnace has to be on a AFCI. I would ask your Inspector to show you in the NEC exactly what he’s talking about. I would say maybe a GFCI circuit since it’s in the unfinished basement and it has its own circuit. Many people can read the code book and have different interpretations. Good luck
