Can someone tell what tool creates this kind of cable termination/join

Hi,

I work with caravans and I often see this termination of cables and am intrigued what tool creates it, my Google foo has failed me so thought I would ask here. Hopefully the picture is clear enough, as looking at it now it's a bit out of focus.

I think it is an ultrasonic weld, I also think you only get industrial-scale tools to do that

For normal jobs with fine stranded wire it is ferrules and a crimp tool for most folk. I recently got one of the "self adjusting" sort and it is great, so much less trouble than playing guess-the-slot size on the traditional style. If you have a professional level budget then:

As above , definitely looks like the cores have been heated & pressed together.
in some foreign countries I see twisted solid cores which have been flashed with an arc welder but they often have a blackening burning on them.
the cores in your picture look super clean...

You see it on the tails of RCBOs, etc. Don't think I have seen it elsewhere, as mostly it is the "uninsulated" ferrules that you get on pendant light cords, extension leads, etc.

Thanks for the replies, the cores are definitely compressed together and you can't pull them apart.

I knew the equipment that did the job was going to be well out of my budget, was just curious and googling turned up no answers.

that last one is same as the one i got £14.99 with 250 asstd. ferrules.
