Discuss House alarm - telephone connection box in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I had a house alarm which calls my mobile when activated installed a year ago, the guy who installed it is in New Zealand until February and I can't get hold of him.

The landline phone stopped working, I opened up the connection box for the telephone line in my garage. Some of the cables came loose and I am not sure how to re-wire them?

The broadband now works again but the landline and house alarm can't connect as some of the wires must in the wrong connector?

When the guy installed the alarm he said our set up in terms of the colours of the active wires was not normal but I am not really sure what he meant.

Photo below when face plate removed for main BT socket inside the house. Not sure if this helps.

If anyone can help, I owe you a beer or two! Thanks

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum, I have approved your post to get things moving however Admin may move it to diy when they get a moment.

I suspect that the orangey red cable in the far left hand terminal as you look at it should be in the far right hand terminal.
If you take the master bt point off and get a picture of thw terminals that may help

What alarm is it, is it one from TLC, Internet or a shed. Knowing the make and model will help, have you got a answer machine before the alarm
