Morning.
Recently went to a job with what is a glorified shed, although fully insulated plastered, water tight etc, with a db installed within the unit. Small ring main and four down lights. The SWA supplying the 'shed' running back to the garage, on a 40a mcb protected by a 63a 30ma rcd main switch. Client had said that the rcd had kept tripping and tripped out the mcb for the shed at the same time. So to me narrows it down to the problem lying withing the shed. So all circuits tested within the shed as well as the SWA supply to the shed. No problems found at all. She did have a small heater plugged in the shed to help keep the damp.out, running for 3 hours a day (on the built in timer) on a low heat. Suggested the problem may be down to the heater. Heater unplugged.
Phone call two days later, had tripped again, no load on the shed this time. A little strange if you ask me.
Any ideas what to do next, what sort of direction to take?
Have since tested the whole board with the rcd on that supplies the garage sockets and alarm.
