Hello All

I have just made an enquiry with a well known course provider who offers the C&G 2365 parts 2 & 3. I called up and asked whether I could do the course then seek work as a mate in order to build a portfolio to put toward my NVQ 3.

He replied that the NVQ is in fact optional, and not needed in order to become a qualified Electrician. He said that about less than 20% of active Electricians have NOT got an NVQ 3.

Can someone with knowledge of this please advise as this doesn't sound right!

Regards

the reason a lot of electricians don't have an nvq is because they were trained before it was introduced.

technically no electrical qualifications are needed just being competent but that has been changed recently to electrically skilled etc.

you will need the nvq to get a gold jib card or in other words to work alone on some sites
