At the minute yes, but once you put several into one MCB then no they are not, they just become branches.

Richard3009, I have to say its pod that you have the right frame of mind think of future people looking at it and getting belted etc. I agree, they should follow safe isolation but equally, it could bite someone.

If you have space you old put to boards next to each other... Or just get a large board to take everything maybe.

You fix a detailed circuit list at or near the distribution board as required by the regulations

A property has 10 radial circuits supplied off an old Economy 7 off peak board that used to feed storage heaters, they are now converted to 10 individualy fused radial 13A socket outlets. The owner wants you to replace both of his consumer units, where you going with this. Circuit id and isolation could be a future risk, take out radials or re_instate.

So if you're that worried, provide a single two tier CU and combine both the existing CU's into one CU. You could if you wish supply two of these radial sockets from a single 20A MCB, where say two points are in the same room. Just provide a detailed legend for each MCB and the job's a good'un. You are only responsible for the work you undertake. You're not responsible for the fool or fool's that come after you, that can't read, and have no idea about ''safe isolation'', and/or shouldn't be working/touching the electrical installation in the first place!!

There must be literally hundreds of thousands of installations like yours, where old economy 7 storage heater points have been converted to standard socket outlets. I can't honestly see what you are worried about, sounds like a perfectly straight forward job to me...

My biggest concern would be a future person could isolate the downstairs ring main and think every socket to be dead, I know test for dead and all that, but this one could bite somebody
Dear oh Dear, come on now, really are you really worried about this? just get on with it, houses all over the UK have radials from off peak spurs changed to single sockets and added to the on peak board, depending on the size of board there I would have 5 new 20 amp circuits with 2 sockets in each, if the board smaller then add 3 per breaker lol, is this really a post which should be in the main forums and not moved away to the DIY area.
