hi guys
yet another head scratcher i am doing a board change and have 3 cables for a ring main LIVE LIVE 0.45 N+N 0.45 CPC 0.68
other cable also reads on the end to end 0.12 0.15 and 0.23 cpc
any ideas as to what this could be expected that another circuit had been doubled up in fuse however all three cables seem to be part of same ring main.

Not enough info mate

More info and do you mean a ring final circuit mate?

yes mate ring final cicuit and 3rd cable gives me readings between both cable 1 and cable 2

You have an interconnection of some description, are all three pair of indentical appearance ? Sometimes you get a older or newer looking one, start as you would with a good ring, end to ends then do a figure of eight test on the sockets see if one pair give you equal readings, record the readings as you go or your get lost .

i have 2 white cables twin and earth and 1 grey do u mean figure 8 with live and earth

Look at the general board install, if most of the cables all look of a similar installation date, and one sticks out like a sore thumb...well...that's a starter for ten, there is only one figure of eight test for ring mains...it's in the OSG as well as GN3

Is the resistance between cables 1 and 2 (the higher resistance values of the ring final circuit) to the 3rd cable the same. it sounds like you have a ring then from one socket/spur and extra cable has been returned to the board.

how far do u go though as i was only in to replace fuse box and what are we responsible for

If your doing a board change its your responsibility to do an EIC on all circuits you have energised

I have one of these coming up. CU change had a quick look at it the other day noticed on one of the RFC that there is 3 cables going into rewireable fuse hoping one of them is just extra sockets that have being added. Going back check it out before doing board change though

was an emergency job as old fuse box blew up so had to change box network been out and disconnected main supply customer been without electric for three days

Yes mate it is a well chewed bone on here for sure, division of circuits, but I would draw your attention to the BGB 314.1 to 314.4
