Discuss shaver socket outlets in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Ahh, just realised you have one 3036 board and your new board for the kitchen, so you will need to extend the cable. Just disconnect it and get it accessible, crimp on a new length of cable, and feed this back out of the old box and over to the new CU, not ideal but if the old cable entry is not accessible this can be done.

If it is easy to feed a new cable to a point where you can reach the old wiring coming down then you could crimp / heat shrink on there and pull out the old section.

ok cheers. just love to get into the fram of mind to tackle it, all good. lets say i was to replace the cu with dual rcd board for rest of house... what would be key things to look out for.. i dont think would be borrowed neutrals as is bungalow, but you never know.. this is an option..

Yes you need to RCD the lights as well, as soon as you modify the existing bathroom installation it must comply with the current BS7671:2008 ... in #8 I emphasised 701.411.3.3 says "ALL CIRCUITS OF THE LOCATION"

Moving light circuit shaver outlet will be tapped from to RCD side is a much better idea than mine.

I disagree though spin that it is "unacceptable". Not perfect, better than before, safe, well yes, but unacceptable, well, thats down to the designer and installer and signer of document!

Would it be safe though?
Yes one could argue that it would be safer than not having no RCD protection at all.
However it would not offer the same degree of safety as would be achieved by compliance with the Regulations.
As such it could not even be listed as a departure.
i=p/u, it will still require 30mA RCD protection.
