Discuss Silly question GS38 probes and dead testing in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

My Martindale voltage tester shrouds lock to expose the prods if you turn them about a quarter turn.I usually use it like that so I don't have tp push against the spring loaded shrouds.
Took me a little time to work out that they did that, holding the spring back whilst trying to touch conductors! Now they are never covering the ends. Always been a great bit of kit for something so simple(ish) . if it's a solid conductor and you need to check voltage or continuity often, put a bend in it with long nose pliers then apply pressure and a tug to hold in place when checking. As SBO suggests a little bit of ingenuity require (75% of the job I think)
