Discuss Virgin Cable - Flush Mounted Outputs...? in the FreeSat, Sky, VirginMedia Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hello all, new member here....I hope you don't mind the post in your patch...

The property we recently purchased had previously been cable connected – one Ominbox outside which feeds telephone to one room and three coax cable runs. Only two of these are likely to be used in the immediate future the one to the lounge for TV with one upstairs into what we will used as an office so that's where the Router/Hub has gone and I have installed several Network cables to distribute wired connections to several locations throughout the property.

Inside the external Omnibox is the supply feed which connects to a Ecoline ESI-03N 3-Way splitter. Three outputs – two @ 6.1db and one @ 6.5db. I am not sure which runs where at the moment.

I removed from the wall the original NTL/Telewest surface mounts boxes for redecoration and obtained a couple of new Virgin branded surface mounts boxes – these have TRIS-1002L Isolators inline. Since then though I would ideally like to have the three outlets flush mounted rather than surface mount white plastic box.

I can't really get these TRIS-1002L's into a 1 Gang back Box - they seem to fit into a Double Back Box OK with room for cable but that would mean putting two faceplates on side by side even if one just acts as a dummy to keep the aesthetics.

In a thread elsewhere the poster made use of an Isolated S-Line SL435 Double Coax faceplate (they also do a single coax outlet, SL434) to achieve similar results for flush mounted faceplates. Whilst they seem to have a working setup I cannot find any technical data on this item but am wondering if this provides the same Isolation features as the TRIS-1002L and is an acceptable alternative ?

Alternatively are there are there any other Isolators available with a smaller profile that might fit in a standard 1 Gang Back Box ?

From reading a few other posts it seems the Isolators are needed – as close to the customer equipment as possible (?) - I can't just do without them even with the 3 way splitter in the external box ?

Any help, input appreciated.

Thanks in advance
FF
