Discuss Visual Building Solar Designer _ Irradiance values in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have been told by several users of Visual Building Solar Designer that while using the software to calculate the FIT, they like the feature to select the local irradiance values from a map. However I also just heard from another user, that they have been told to use a single irradiance value throughout the entire UK, and this feature is therefore redundant. The factors from Cornwall to Scotland have a difference of 300 KWh/ sqm, so in my opinion it does matter.

What’s the consensus here, do you use an accurate irradiance value for each location in the UK or use a standard value?

how have you found this software and do you know how it compared to pv sol? I dont have the time to trial both but looking for alterntaives to our system of google sketch up and inverter software and PV GIS

You have to highlight only one value in your quote which is the SAPs calc as specified in MCS documentation with the usual disclaimer, PVGIS, Climate SAF, PVsol, PVsys are all other mechanisms you can use providing they do not take priority over the saps calc. that is the way I see it anyway.
