Went on a job today to rectify a fault on some lighting, choc blocks cooking and also need 1 switch programmed

I was there anm hour and charged him £75.00

He told me I was much too expensive , Itold him he was paying for the van, ins, time and knoledge ,

He then told me that there can't be much to electrics as he'd seen ads in the paper where you can become fully quilified in 15 weeks - I wont bore you with where the conversation went from there - but I did get paid - cash!

love it. At least you got paid though. do you tell what you charge before you attend?

Why not tell him to do the 15 week course then he won't have to pay you to come out...

I give a rough idea or free estimate, this guy just asked to come and sort it , I told him between £50 and £150 depending on the fault

should have told him to look up Homeserve / BG / other rip offs prices, all of a sudden you will have become a bargain (and you fixed it!)

£75 doesn't sound unreasonable in Herts.
