Best way to keep condensation out of bathroom?

Evening all...

Customer wants a bathroom fan in his small bathroom (approx 2mx2m). single glazed windows and no heating.

At present he gets a great deal of condensation.

My question is 'which is the best method of reducing condensation, increasing the ambient temperature of the bathroom or supplying adequate ventilation? I realise the best way would be to provide both, but that will cost more and I doubt the customer would go for that.

Basically, heat or ventilation?

I find by far the best and easiest way to keep condensation out of the bathroom is to keep the window open and the hot taps shut!!

I'm not sure Marvo. I'm guessing your thinking if its still there in the summer then best course of action is ventilation?

Well thats what I would have thought Murdoch, but condensation is only going to form on walls that are colder than the ambient temperature, so if its a poorly insulated room, with single glazing and no heating in it, I'm not sure if just sticking a fan in in is going to solve the problem?

I had this issue with a customer and ensuite.

fitted a 6" inline duct fan and told them to leave the window open, people don't seem to get it that for air to be extracted, the same volume of air needs to enter the room. You can have a huge fan but if it's fighting a vacuum it's not going to make naff all difference.

With no heating and a fan the issue will be reduced buy nothing will get rid of the issue al together.

if they agree to a fan make sure its quite powerful and the gap under the door is big enough to draw air into the room!

EDIT: COuld you not add an electric towel rail too?
