HISTORY
Adding a new socket to an existing ring in a domestic, with a concrete floor, leaves me with no other option but to bring the cable from the upstairs room, down the wall to terminate in the new socket.

To hide cable chases the wall.
No RCD protection so chase to a min depth of 50mm.

QUESTION Because of the length and depth of the chase does this not weaken the integrity of the wall or can this be ignored. And house wont collapse.

Can some one shed some light on this please.

The maximum depth you can go is a third of the thickness of the wall so your wall would have to be at least 150mm thick to achieve what you are after, perhaps the safer answer would be steel conduit.

Hope that helps
