CU Replacement - extending circuit tails

Hi all,
I have a new 17th edition spec CU to install, replacing a BS3036 fused box. As there is no floor up or re-wiring allowed (unless there is a horror story from the PIR (being performed first), I may have to use the existing circuit conductors. My question is on the extension of these tails to the new MCBs. What would be the approved/recommended method for joining the extensions ? My current thought is to crimp. Also, is it advisable to keep to the old red/black colours on the tails or use the new colours.

Now i'd be inclined to use the old colours, to which the whole installation has been wired too. That is, if you have the correct cables in the old colours. ...lol!!! CU's in the UK are be fast becoming totally covered in bloody notices of one kind or another, so much so, that no-one i wager bothers to even read them any more!! lol!!

I have soldered in the past but the easiest way is existing cables into an adaptable box with din rail connectors and extend from there. Assuming there's enough room for the new box of course. If not, crimp and heat shrink.

Still fairly common to see multiple buried Earth rod connections brazed or more commonly exothermically welded. So long as the first earth electrode in the string can be totally disconnected for testing purposes.

But i think this isn't really what were talking about in this thread. ..lol!!!

like the one that tells them to check the rcd. I can`t remember a single customer who has ever pressed the button after the installation. that talk you give them after you have done the install falls on deaf ears and you can g/tee there will be a phone call off them saying "my lectrics gone off" what do you mean gone off? did you not keep it in the fridge they listen to nothing and have a complete disregard for anything as long as it works

I agree, most notices and warning labels are ignored by the people that should be reading them. The only purpose they serve is to give you the upper hand in a court room if Joe Public does something worthy of a Darwin award and gets hurt in the process and tries to get compensation.
