Door Entry

I moved a door entry phone in an office as the staff were moving to another part of the building, everything works apart from the lock wont open, I used 80 mtrs of 3 pair telephone cable to extend it, its a Bell system, can anyone help

Time to get the meter out and check your wiring....telephone cable is fine for the intercom, but not very reliable for the lock switching as it breaks easily

I only extended the original cable

If the intercom is working fine, then its just the lock wiring......check it is not locking when you press the lock release button on the hand set, ie voltage at the lock,

There are 2 other offices using the system and theirs work fine, could it be volt drop?

Shouldn`t be, more likely to be the telephone cable broken, best thing is to always double the cores up. Need to get the meter out and start at the main unit, testing operating for 12ac or dc depending on which lock you have when release button is press.

80mtrs extra length, I reckon Voltage drop, check what volts you are getting at the lock

Hi I rewired it using4 pair cable and 2 pairs were used for the lock alone and it worked
