Hi guys,

Just wondering what qualifications enable me to test emergency lighting systems?. I have level 2 and level 3 City and Guilds 2330 and my 17th edition.

My Client asked if i could do it for him tomorrow. I have done a bit of reading on the subject, regulations etc. but cant find that much information so im assuming that it cant be that difficult. I am also wondering if its the Periodic Inspection and Testing certificate that i fill out and if there is a sample of it already filled out somewhere. I want to make sure it is done correctly.

thanks in advance

cheers
Nick

NICEIC have a specific EmLight test cert as for whats involved test lights for illumination , time replace any lamps that dont light report( price) any batterys required Might be better to replace fittings due to price worth checking specialy for 8w fittings

yeah ive got a vague idea on what/how to test. I have obtained the Green Emergency Lighting P.I.R.

Would the owner have a log book with all tests recorded? Or am i just issuing him with a PIR

Yeah i had a look at the NICEIC website..

thanks mate ill keep that in mind

also one other thing...

whats a reasonable price to charge my client to do all of the testing and issuing of a PIR

i'd work on a call-out of £30 and then £20 per hour thereafter (including time to fill in the paperwork). so if you are there for 4 hours, 30+80=£110.

Allow 3 hrs for the test and depending on size of place time for turnung on to test and turning off test A lot of our clients combine a service visit to do EMlighting PAT and fire Alarm testing
