They can all kick in at 120v but normal setting is 200v, as for losses I have heard so..what you gain at the bottom you loose at the top (never done tests). Im sure you could fit a 3.6 and it would work but not as well as 3.0

I think you may have answered the questions asked.
If the 3.6 OUTD does not have a fan, then it stands the potential to run hotter, which is why there must be a difference in output.
Now the 3.6 with a fan, is designed for indoor use to cool the inverter therefore giving better performance and probably longevity also.
This is not my field of expertise, however I think that makes sense.

Only problem is they all go in the loft and lofts and fans..??...Plus if you have a south facing roof full of panels the loft will be a lot cooler as the panels are taking the heat not the roof tiles.

Okay, I'm getting a bit confused here to say the least.

He was going to get you a 3.6 but now he is getting you a 3.6 OUTD? A 3.6 is a 3.6 OUTD. There is no such thing as an indoor only model. There is a PVI 3600 which is an indoor model and presumably the model you are talking about?

If this is the case then I wouldn't worry. The 3.6 OUTD is more efficient anyway - it's a better model.

3.6 OUTD may be oversized but I don't think that this will result in loss of yield.

Solar thats what I like to hear , but if you use the string tool on p1's website they do give differing results

just to add more confusion..the 3.6 indoor..I hope this link works..

The PVI-3600 is a different model altogether. If the installer is changing this for a 3.6 OUTD then you're getting a good deal.

thanks guys - i will stuck with the 3.6 OUTD over the PVI-3600 although the match is not perfect -

Ok guys

An update to this - new inverter fitted PVI-3.6-OUTD. But this won't connect to my new aurora desktop monitor . The radio card has been fitted but the unit will not pick up a signal.

Just browsing through manual and it says it doesn't work with the OUTD model.
Looking on the power one website for the monitor support page, the installer video shows the guy connecting it up to an OUTD model

Has anyone got this combo working? Or am I in for another fight with the installer for a refund. I've tried a firmware update. On the side of the unit it self it says PVI-DESKTOP-IT. But has a UK sticker stuck on it. (I'm assuming it's been converted from Italian to uk stock?)

Any answers for me guys- once again thanks in advance

I have fitted a couple of wireless cards to PVI-3.0-OUTD inverters without a problem. The 3.6 model should work equally well.

Sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs, but the frequency at which the wireless link operates means it is line of sight and does not like going through thick masonary walls or foil lined walls. A few tips:
- get the connection working with the desktop beside the inverter, before moving it further away.
- I do not have the instructions in front of me, but I recall there is a litle lever on the card to reset the wireless card.
- the external aerial on the inverter can be rotated: try it vertical, horizontal and at 45 degrees and rotate in the horizontal plane to see which give the strongest signal at the desktop device.

Thanks for the quick reply - the installer had the unit in the attic with him. He'd never done one before with the radio card installed .
