Fitted an Ikea light fitting yesterday, and normally I find they are a PITA. However this one was unusually electrician friendly. It came with a little hook to hang it from whilst fitting it, and a whopping great ceiling mounting plate. Well done Ikea (and yes that's a sentence I thought I would never utter!) Customer said it only cost around ÂŁ30 also, which for a five bar fitting and of decent looking quality, is applaudable.

Disclaimer: I still dislike Ikea a lot!!

Actually...yes! I fitted one like that in my daughter's bathroom, and the hook to hold it while you connect is quite nifty. Imagine connecting with a choc-block, up a ladder, holding the fitting and juggling screwdriver and connector...but then, we've all done that ):
Before anyone asks, the bathroom has a ceiling height of 12'...

My girlfriend talked me in to helping her elderly neighbour who bought 3 lights from Ikea, Pam is about 80 and 4'8" tall, poor dear forgot the little hooks that you need. I bought them online as I couldn't justify the time/energy/petrol money and being tempted by a hot dog and coke then once eating 3 of them feeling guilty and much worse then cheating on your partner........

Then she buggered off on holiday to India for 3 months and owes me ÂŁ2 grrrrrrrrr
