I've been asked to carry out PAT on items in a small florists shop, who I have done work for over the past few years.

I haven't really bothered getting into doing it as part of every day work, as to me seems to cut throat if you want to compete with the bigger companies doing it.

In this case though, I thought rather than tell them I can't do it and them get someone else in to do it, I have have looked at this little gem -

Kewtech PATADAPTOR1: Convert 17th Edition - PAT Adaptor 1

Are they good to use as an infrequent PA tester?

looks a logical alternative to paying out a shed load of ££££ if you only do a few.

I have one and its fine for small amounts but i would spend the money on a proper tester where you can download the resuilts if doing more than a few due to the time it takes

Looks like a decent bit of kit. Just about to order one for myself as work is a little slack at the moment, but do keep getting a enquieries from friends and family about doing PAT so should be useful for them little jobs.

Bought one as a backup for my normal Pat Tester, when i got it did wonder whether a double adapter (modified) would have been just as good. As you get leads with a 3 pin plug on anyway. Never used it as i prefer the umph the real pat tester sends out down the earth.

The Kewtech Pat Adaptor is ideally suited to small number and infrequent PAT testing situations. I keep one in my bag for testing a suspect leaky appliance, when dealing with an installation RCD tripping problem. Getting the dedicated PAT tester out of the van in such situations is a waste of valuable time and usually unjustifiable.
