Say I have a load of lights that require a cable size of 10mm through a contactor fused accordingly, what is the technique for tapping each individual light off this 10mm radial, what methods are available to tee off the circuit to each fitting. I assume a fused spur is required at each and every fitting.

It will depend to an extent on the size of the OCPD.
Is it 10mm because of volt drop or 10mm because of current?
And if it is current do the light fittings contain internal fuses or do you need to provide a fuse for each light? (Regs require lighting circuits above 10A to have fuses provided at each fitting)
And then there is the plain common sense requirement for a plug and socket arrangement for easy connect and disconnect and local isolation for re-lamping.

Aye, ok mate. So next time I design a circuit and I get a bit stuck I'll just write "one of them things, ye know what I mean"
Lighten up man, life's too short.

Richard may I interject here ... TBH its not a one off question here you seem to be taking on work and relying on a forum to get it right, your post history is available for anyone to peruse, its seems like you are out of touch with modern practices and regulations and my advice is revise and take a 5week course to familiarise yourself with the current regulations, we know you have been in the Electrical industry for a while but you have a big gap in your knowledge of modern reg's so my advice is either take on the work your comfortable with or advance your knowledge by taking a course..... Your questions are hovering around the basic level and should not be from someone practicing Electrical work unless supervised so ask your senior not us.

A suitable junction box is used and sheathed singles run in to the socket. I’ve used it for a 16mm² 4c SWA lighting ring main. A metal clad double socket mounted directly underneath the JB using conduit bushes.

What would you suggest for a large installation?

Why not feed a small DB via the contactor, and individually feed a number of lights from there? or am I missing the point

Why not feed a small DB via the contactor

This is how I would usually do it, breaking it down into convenient size finals. Also in the past with dimmers, e.g. two 30A house light dimmers in a theatre, each feeding a 4-way board with 10A circuits run to the luminaires in 2.5.

And, forgive my ignorance but:

I know the answers just seeing how far up their own arses they are

Is that not technically trolling?

Resistance to abuse test passed then Richard, wow is this what it's like on here, begining to wonder why I joined
