i go to london a few times a year for work
another way to make more money of hard working peoples backs i take it

this is really getting my blood boiling!!

My mates got a nissan vannett and he was qouted 3 grand to upgrade the filter

wat a fecking joke. I was qouted nearly £1,500!

They want us all to go into debt and buy new vans!

Isnt any1 on here effected by this?? We're all a bunch of push overs

Yep I'm affected by the poxy LEZ. Typical of the public sector who havent got a clue about life in the private sector. We pay their wages and they impose this rubbish on us.They think just because you run a business you have a spare £10k lying around to splash out on a newer van.
I'm all for reducing pollution, but it should be done in a way people can afford. Ie those with vans that don't comply should be made to upgrade when they get a new van, not forced to chop in their vans by a certain date.
And why just vans, if TFL were serious about reducing pollution they would ban all polluting vehicles not just vans. What about all those 4x4s that are just used for ferrying the kids to school? At least most people with vans are generating income and paying taxes. If TFL had their way, we'd all be trying to get on a crappy bus with 10 3m lengths of galv tube and a bending machine.
TFl also create pollution with their moronic bus lane system, which leaves a one lane 15 mile tailback, chuffing fumes into the air, in the rush hour, whilst the bus lane next door remains empty,so buses can get 3 people to work on time.
Goons the lot of em
Rant mode off.

Anyone care to tell us guys who don't generally work in the capitol what this is all about? Do the occasional job in London and drive a 1.6HDi Dispatch and ain't got a chuffing clue what you're on about. '£100 per day' for a 'non compliant van'? What the heck?!

I only worked in London once and won't be rushing back as it was far to dear a place to live, the trains and underground are a fortune and rip you off if you are only going a couple of stops.
You have to beware that lieing numpty and car hater Red Ken he will be having another go at becoming the Mayor again when the next Mayor electricians happen. He is very anti car and he doesn't even have a driving licence so has no idea about the cost of running one.
The thing about the LEV is it doesn't apply to all the hackneys which all spit out more than the 235grams of co2 allowed.
The congestion charge is a money making con like all the other green taxes which have been introduced by the last Labour goverment to wring more money out of the average working man and business, the didn't care about people trying to make a living only about the work shy and the all the lazy people who work for the bloated public sector.

LEZ has been rolled out over the past couple of years and basically affects all vehicles bigger than a small van. Engines have to be euro 3 spec or higher. this generally means that vans older than 02 won't comply. However TFL are more than happy for anyone with a non compliant van to pollute London as long as they pay £100 per day for the privillige.
Vans are the last to be affected and originally were supposed to compliant by oct 2010, but this was put back by Boris to Jan 2012, because of the economic situation, to help out small businesses.
Evidently the powers that be believe their own bull crap that things are a lot better now, and therefore businesses can now afford to upgrade their vehicles.
Meanwhile those of us in the real world know that things are no better economically and in most cases are a whole lot worse. So much for small businesses being the back bone of the country!

As I said in my last post it is funny how the Hackneys are excempt from this, you can tell they produce alot of terrible emissions from all the black smoke that spouts out from their exhausts every day(which stinks).
It must be that the cabbies have some clout with the MP's as if they were all banned from the road how would the MP's get home to Ivory Towers after a hard days lunch and dinner and subsidised bars at the tax payers expense.
I can see some sparks loseing work when they need to add £100 onto the cost of a call out charge to cover the cost of taking a van into Central London.

well chaps!! it seems that Joe and his focus will win every job in them zones!!
