Discuss Minor Works certificate required? in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all,
I'm working in a factory enviroment at present installing new boilers(straight swap new for old). Unfrotunately, one of the fuse spurs had to be modified and re-located slightly, because the new boiler location rendered the fuse spur as inaccessable. In effect I have now changed the circuit characteristics for that fuse spur.

Now the technical bit :- the fused spur unit that has been modified is fed from an industrial boiler control panel which contains the usual stuff such as B.M.S. controls, contactors and pump controls etc. The boiler control panel itself is fed from a disribution board and it obviously has it's own local isolation 3phase switch disconnection unit.

Now the question is :- because the fused spur that has been modified is fed from the boiler control panel and not directly off a final distibution circuit - does it require a minor works certificate ?

Many Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,
fixed wiring yes. Back in my contracting days and doing periodic inspection reports I seem to remember that we only used to test to the isolation points in instances such as boiler control panels etc. This is why I am dubious whether this comes under PUWER rather than BS7671. Why should I issue a certificate if it doesn't need one ?
