Hi Lee.
I wouldnt trust your socket tester. The other day my socket tester shown me the same thing...
Turned out to be a broken cpc inside the sleeving. It all looks ok visually. Only after a continuity test did i find that out.
Always start with the basic tests.
Good luck.

and yet again the O/P does one when they are either found out to be a DIYer....
or are not competant...and have neither the necessary test gear..or the knowledge to carry out a systematic stage by stage faultfind...

lol...

I despair, I really do.

Tell me Mr. Dicks, are you a fully qualified domestic installer? If you are, send me the nice certificate you paid £1000’s for. I’ve got a paper shredder standing idle at the moment.

Why do you guys spend 3 pages trying to talk someone through fault-finding who is clearly not safe to work on electrical systems?
To the OP....IF "their electrician is on holiday" (noticed that I corrected the spelling for you), then there are plenty of others out there who know what they are doing!

And would also know what a breakout box is !!

Agree with all above comments, maybe we need to stop giving out this advice, I know as decent members we all try to help people in trouble, but it is usually clear within a few replies that the op is not equipped to find the faults they have encountered.
But you can't win because if we decline the help then immediately we become arrogant obnoxious sparks who think we are better than everyone else, which of course we are.
