Discuss No bathroom RCD in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well, birds twiting (??), rain pattering, wife up and down, I'm off to bed and I don't give a ---- cos I aint got a bathroom extractor!!!!!! And If I did I wouldnt have an isolator or a 3A fuse and ***k the regs.............good evening.

fit a fan pull cord isolator switch if you want local isolation in the bathroom just shorten the pull cord so it is not used to turn on & off lights but is reachable by adults to turn it off over night if they wish, no need for a Neon switch, these units are 3 pole & also have an on-off indicator on them, went to a nursing home years ago loads of fans installed direct off the lights & no means of isolation to the unit, installed these units made the job nice & quick and reasonably priced.
as for the RCD unit if you are only doing work on the fan & it is outside the bathroom then not really an issue.
if you are really concerned then I would say take the feed for the bathroom itself that the fan is powered from into a cupboard if available on the landing or close to it if possible & install RCD fused spur in there, at least if the RCD unit goes they don't have to get in the loft. fan isolator pull cords that i bought think were about £4.00
