Change all lighting to plastic.
There is a download on the NIC-EIC website which you should read and show your tight client ( actually I think Lenny put one in the sticky threads

rubbish. either replace all lights and switches with classII fittings, or he either walks away or leaves the lighting circuit/s disconnected. end of.

be aware that if the tight wad gets electrocuted after you have left class I fittings with no cpc, the charge is manslaughter.

amd watch out for a shared neutral usually on the landing light.

No you place a warning label stating no cpc on lighting circuit. You advise that all fittings are replaced with double insulated or plastic, but you can not advise anyone to disconnect any circuit that would cause distress.
OK. i should have said " isolate the circuit/s" . then customer can easily turn them back on, if he's stupid enough.

so, by drinking with them, you think an RCD will satisfy BS7671 if fitted to a circuit that is blatantly dangerous. i'd stick to electronics if i were you.

yes thats the nic

muppet city in my book

if you rang them and told them what you wanted to do that was outside their guides then so long as you paid them anover fee then youd be rubber stamped

jobs for the boyz im afraid

i used to drink with a couple of the committee members in london, they were iet also

and you think window cleaners are stupid !!!

muppet!

i said probably, as the original boxes would have been, but some of these could have been replaced when the class I switches were fitted by somebody who didn't understand the purpose of insulating the screws from a conductive part that was not earthed.

an RCD would make it safer, nobody said it would not. RCDs are not infallible. the fact is that if you are responsible for leaving an installation in an unsafe condition, then a court of law will throw the book at you if there is death or injury as a result. and by the way, racist insults to myself or any other members are a sure way of getting yourself banned from the forum.

So you state

Walk away in your post - totally unsafe as fitting an rcd is more safe

Disconnect the lighting - totally unsafe and liable to prosecution

You started it boyo

I have just read this thread, am new here myself

Its all disjointed with quotes from posters who haven't posted

Is this how a forum works cos its confusing me !!!

Jeremy

The posts you can see embedded in answers are from members who are now banned and removed. So their posts get deleted as part of the process!

Welcome.

it's because the mods have removed a certain persons offensive posts. then they removed him. that's why it's disjointed.

snap....
