Was asked to change a socket in a flat yesterday, when I removed the socket I observed the following,
Slip Conduit & no earth wires, I tested a couple of sockets got a reading of 230 ohms, I put a fly earth down onto the backbox no change.
The system is a tns, with an 80a 30ma RCD as a main switch, there isn't a chance of rewiring the ring through the conduit the cables will not budge.
Suggestions please

Clearly wants rewiring fresh and forget the conduits, discuss with owner and don't try to cut corners because they don't want the mess, it is what it is, what I don't understand is someone has clearly added an RCD at a later date to the install and not addressed the obvious (cowboys I suspect).

Whas the ze good at the origin , is that reading an earth loop or R1 R2 reading , just wondering if its the main earth thats problem or the conduit as poor continity , or has somone changed the cu and not connected the conduit back to the earth

Rewire the circuit.
