Hey guys, I'm over my sisters new gaff today doing some decorating for her....Worse job ever

Anyway replacing the old socket outlets and found one socket is a spur from the immersion circuit ? I know immersions should be on a designated circuit but would like to know was this common practice ever?

Thanks

someone has probably added the socket and found that the easiest way was from the immersion. couldn't be arsed finding a point on the RFC.

With an FCU between the immersion outlet and the socket, it would be ok in my opinion however it is not ideal

Not ideal, but fairly common and nothing to worry about

A code 3 on a MW or EIC.

codes only apply to EICRs. not EICs. agree with the code C3 though. unless the cable is smothered in insulation, the 16A OCPD will trip before the cable is overloaded ( assuming it's 2.5mm).

It nearly caught me out lol good old socket tester

It's in the bedroom (whole 4 bed house is on one ring) loads of spurs so probably run out of sockets outlets to spur from.

Thanks you lot ;)

Yes it still happens with the old ring main serving all of the building, even with houses built in the nineties.
