No not a job I have done silly :)

Who's thought about it though?

You've been to price on a job and you know full well that the quote is going to be ignored and some local mate will sort the simple 5 minute job for a couple of beers rather than the 500 odd quid that the rip off sparky wants.

I've recently mentioned on here that I went to see a job, 3 sockets in a conservatory....

I didn't get the job but that's what I expected, I did have a message from the builder though explaining that he's had a mate do the work because the client did not want to pay anymore. I guarantee, all that's been done is the sockets!!!

Not sure what your point is mate. The guy who has done this hasn't, as you say, done this properly so where does an assessor come into the equation?
If I were you I think my price would actually go up a bit because you'll have to spend time finding out exactly what the numpty has done before you can put it right
 
All to common I'm afraid, we take time to arrange a visit and provide a price, only for it to be used as a bargaining tool for some other quote.
It seems the general public (and builders) just want cheap, just a fact of life now.
