Been to look at an extension earlier and told by the client on arrival it's already been wired by someone else but he's been taken ill , the extension is very large and the first fix looks very rough I'm not sure I want to put my name against it just incase as some walls have been boarded ! Suggestions?

Walk away unless your going to sign off someone else's work. You become liable if you make out you did the 1st fix if only the 1st fix is done then tell him you will start it from scratch, i know this is all may seem over the top but is it worth the risk! as you say it looks rough so chances are it is.

Or the other option is crack on with it, because someone else sure as hell will.
Can you see all the wiring etc can you test it to make sure it is done to a satisfactory state, you say it looks rough in what way.

Yh it's not great to be fair and I don't want to get a bad reputation from someone else's rough work

is it possible to correct whats iffy if it is work out a price go through it with owner and let him decide

Been half plastered already !

In that case you quote to replace all the wiring you consider dodgy until you are sufficiently happy with the install to sign a cert for it, or you take a walk. If it looks rough in places, it probably is in other places you can't see.

I personally would only be happy in issuing a a cert for 100% my own work.

rip it out and start again...

as has been said here already...you dont go round signing off anyone elses work...

i mean...how do you know that there was an electrician in there before you?

chances are its been a DIY cabbage thats done it...found out its not just as straight forward as he thought it was...so then thought he`d get someone to finish it off...at a reduced price that is....

stinks does all this...if they wont have you do it all again then tell em where to go...
