What would you recommend as an 80A DP mains isolator switch?

Background: My DNO fitted a 100A cut-out fuse on 16mm2 service cables, despite their own published policy requiring 25mm2 service cables for such a fuse rating. (At least, the fuse carrier is labelled 100A). So, they are coming out to replace the cut-out fuse with an 80A one (or at least verify it contains an 80A fuse and correctly label the fuse carrier). I will agree with them to keep the supply disconnected and stay on site long enough for me to whisk the tails out of the antiquated contraption you guys advised I get rid of and replace with a modern isolator.

The DNO's would normally fit a wylex REC2 isolator, and I personally would use the same thing if I was supplying one.

Why not get the DNO to supply and fit an isolator?

When we had the supply moved at my parents house the DNO moved the supply and meter and fitted an isolator.
I’ve always had to contact the electricity supplier (British Gas etc) for an isolator to be installed, the DNO up here northern power networks stop at the head.

Yes, different DNO's have different rules.

That job was SSE, I've always found them to be the most helpful DNO around when it comes to these things. A stark contrast to UKPN who I've also dealt with and found to be impossible to deal with.

The area I work in is always UKPN. Absolute nightmare to deal with.

The other week I was on site when they moved a supply. They asked me who was moving the meter? I said you are as it says here (their job sheet). He said oh no we can’t do that! Cue about 20 phone calls and they sentsomeone else to do it?!

What a joke. Surely moving the cutout is the hard part!

Problems I've had with UKPN include:

We can't move the supply until you provide the EIC for the installation. It was a building site, we had stripped out the entire installation, builders were using and extension lead from next door.

The person surveying the job said they can't move the meter, so I spent hours on the phone arranging for the meter company to come and move the meter on the same day, the UKPN operatives just got on and moved the meter when they moved the cutout.

"we can't touch that cutout it's cast iron, it'll have to be replaced before we can move it"

"that's not our cable" (the one coming from the street in to the cutout)

"we can't do that you haven't bonded the gas" the ground workers were digging the trench ready for the gas board to install a gas supply a few days later at the time.
