We're installing a 50 kW pv system on a newly installed 3ph supply point.

I understand that as the system is bigger than 30kW export must be on a HH meter. My thoughts are to have a smart meter installed so that import and export meters are combined, so less work etc. But the customer seems to think that as his import requirements are so low he is better off with a non HH meter for import, thus he is asking for two separate meters to be installed - HH for the export and non HH for import.

Does that make any sense to anyone?

export meter install of £900 and yearly contract £300 and £500 depending on length of contract.export mpan and dc mop contract to sort out up to 6 weeks.pm me for info

Brince, it depends entirely on whether the customer could negotiate a preferential rate for his import if he had a HH import meter fitted (via a SmartMeter).

If his import level is as low as you suggest then this is unlikely but he could make a call to his electricity supplier and find out pretty easily. Some suppliers are trying to get customers to sign up for SmartMeters now so they may be willing to offer a small incentive.
