Hi! New to the forum. Confident working with most electrical problems - not sure I use the right terminology, so please forgive and correct me!
I have replaced older recessed lighting cans in my kitchen with snap-in retrofit 6" LED lights. I have NOT used the "screw in" socket connectors for the LED lights, but rather, have removed the can completely and wired the LED lights directly to the wires that had been leading from the junction box to the can. These cans were older models where the can itself was connected to a larger junction box containing the connections and a temperature sensor. One of the LED lights is now going on and off occasionally and I'm hearing what I believe is the tell-tale click (well kind of a click - it's somewhere between a "click" and a "ping") of the temp sensor. The LED light doesn't generate much heat so I'm betting that it's a bad temp sensor (the house is 30+ years old). I know it's not the LED light itself, as I tried a different one and the same problem occurs.
Question - do I need to replace the temp sensor or, since I'm using the LED lights now, can I bypass it completely?
