Changing Energy Supplier - Have to change FITS provider?

Hi,

I'm a dual fuel customer at SSE, and they are also my FITS provider. Due to the increases announced last week by SSE and BG today, I'm looking to move provider for my electricity and gas, but I'm wondering if this impacts SEE being my FITS provider.

Can I change my fuels away from SEE but keep them as my FITS or will I have to move everything?

Your FITs contract is totally separate to your energy supplier. You can change energy supplier as you wish and it will have no affect on your FIT supplier. Your FIT supplier will remain with SEE regardless of who you switch your supplier to.

As far as I can see there would be no benefit for you to change FIT supplier. They all pay the same rates.....and if you are on the scheme and getting your payments on time then best to let sleeping dogs lie....

we moved from SSE a couple of months ago and have left our FIT with them. As others have said, there is (or should be) no issue.

I would expect that the other suppliers will increase their prices in due course. All the others tend to let SSE be first and they play a game of waiting until the last moment before announcing their price increases. So beware you're not jumping from the frying pan to the fire when your new provider puts up prices in a few weeks time.

In our case, as part of the consolidation of tariffs initiated by the Government, SSE wanted to move us to a new tariff which would add about £200 to our annual dual fuel bill. Previously, our tariff was very competitive. This caused the switch. Had we stayed we would have seen two price hikes rather than the inevitable one hike which is probably just around the corner.
