Evening All!

Been running cables on a small extension. Was just about to leave when the builder asked me to run a supply for a masserator (think thats how its spelt). Anyways its going directly next to the shower, located in a small unit (like a kitchen unit). Will the jb inside the unit need to be IPX4? I know that the space under a bath is classed as outside of the zones if its accessible only with a tool but doesnt mention units?

First time ive seen one before, like a big food processor inside!

Cheers Guys

Rob

If it is inside zone 1 then it has to be SELV because a macerator is not one of the permitted items of current using equipment. If you measure around the walls of the barrier is it within 600mm?

Well it is a turd processor, at the end of the day!! It processes the food that come out at the other end!! Just refuse point blank to do any maintenance on the unit in the future !!! lol!!

Richard, not sure of the measurements as he hasnt fitted it yet, but seen as its permanent and fixed its okay to install in zone 2 right?

Engineer54, too right. I did notice the warranty comes with its own dedicated service team. What a job ay!

Rob121 so long as it is not switched in zone 2, only permanently wired, then it is OK to install but everything must be IPX4.
I have often found that cupboards with items inside them are often outside of zone 2 once you take the barrier into account, however a small "kitchen unit" right next to the shower may well be in zone 2 inside the cupboard.
