Long story short - I'm moving a light fitting. Previously it was a pendant with the loop-in in it, this new light fitting doesn't have enough blocks inside (common scenario it seems), plus I'm moving it about a foot. So I need to take care of the loop-in before coming off it to the light fitting.

I have a junction box, I also have blocks (it's in the blocks at the moment since I had to stop the job halfway). I struggle with junction boxes, especially since there's going to be 4 or 5 cables going into it. I find it tricky wiring inside of them with lack of space and really have to force the cables round into the various screws with there being that many, and it leaves me feeling it's less safe given it's been a bit of a hack to get them in. How it is now (although originally was meant to be temporary) - couldn't that be left like that and taped up/enclosed some other way in the blocks? It feels a lot cleaner to me and I can get a good pinch on the copper (added benefit of only 2 cores going under each screw).

Open to opinions here, want to do whatever's safest.

TLDR: Junction boxes vs terminal blocks

If that’s going back up into the ceiling mate it’ll need to be maintainance free fittings and junction box.....wago is my preferred ?
