Kitchen cupboards are not a good idea as they are a pain.

As to the cutout, if you feel competent enough, you can snip the seal and pull the fuse.

However, make sure all loads have been removed first, ie ALL main switches off.

The only possible problem is that some fuse carriers come apart if the fuse is tight so beware.

Im assuming that the DNO are coming to uprate the fuse to 100A? You are not really allowed to do this yourself.

After you are done then just reseal or contact the DNO to come and do it for you.

thanks jasons6930 yes no problem in removing main fuse after all circuits isolated didnt know if there was any regulations regarding it. Also if i contact main supplier on completion of job is this all ok they then will replace 80A with 100A is this correct many thanks in advance:)

Pulling the main fuse and getting caught can cost you a costly fine, learnt this today :)

From my understanding no one has ever been prosecuted for doing this, unless they were helping themselves to free electricity!

Carry on and pull the fuse or contact the local DNO and they will (may) do it for you.

Indeed.

They will supply all registered sparks with the seals, not just those with the NIC:)

I would love to see some evidence of someone being prosecuted for pulling the fuse to work on an installation.

I think the EAWR would be the trump card in court.:)
