been working with another spark today on a job where the rcd keeps tripping intermittentley all legs clear >299Mohms. Lighting is on non rcd side all clear apart from 1 c/ct down to 0.49Mohms the other spark reckons this was taking the rcd out i disagreed and just wanted some1 else to tell me i'm right we ended up spending all day sorting this out and ended up with 160Mohms which we were happy with but just as we leave the job customer rings and says its just tripped lol. Also how much earth leakage do computers have as in how many computers would it take to take out a 30ma rcd? Cheers fellas

just to clarify i do know that i'm right he was just under the impression that because it was TNCS it was getting it through that

just incase any1 is curious the faults on the lighting c/ct were a nick on link for the loop between rooms a melted cable behind as non ip rated fitting in an ensuite that sum genious had just bodged over a ceiling rose a feed for the outside lights bodged onto some connectors and sum sort of frankenstein lightfitting with knackered old cables probably older than the house

Pierced insulation behind a socket or fitting, a possible borrowed neutral or neutrals crossed in the CU.

Maybe.

Hello matey, i got a hotpoint dishwasher and under fault (water leak) it leaks to earth, in most of them they have a micro switch and a piece polystirene (spelt right?) so when water leaks it rises the polystirene and switches the switch, May be slight leak?????
Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi Adamh,
Most dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers and that type of appliance also have a capacitor fitted at the point where the mains lead connects it could be that it is beginning to break down,
could be worth considering,
good luck
