Hi all,

I have been asked to do a few jobs for friends who want to pay me the 'going rate' but I have no idea where to start with pricing.
Please could you give me an idea of the average price for the following jobs as a guide for me?

Job 1 - Replace 7 light fittings around the house (Old for new).

Job 2 - Install 2 outside wall lights and 1 outside double socket to an garage with it own CU powering Lighting & Mains circuit..

Job 3 - Install 3 mains voltage garden lamp posts

I only have to price for my labour.

estimate how long each job will take you. charge between £20 and £25 per hour. job 1. straightforward, say about 3-4 hours. job 2. IP rated socket. if no RCD on circuit, then you'' have to fit a RCD socket. about 1-2 hours. job3. difficult to estimate, but bear in mind on this one you may fall foul of part p.
