Hi there,

I have just fitted a Sunny Boy 1700 with a Sunny Beam to monitor it however whenever I do a system search it comes up with "The System Search Failed" This seems to be before it has even finished doing a search! Any body else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it? :frown2:

Might be a daft question, but has the inverter got the bluetooth capability, if not then you will need the optional piggyback. SMA are showing Bluetooth as optional extra.

Not a daft question this inverter does not come supplied with Bluetooth but have fitted the piggyback to it. I suppose I should check if this is working but as I mentioned in original post the Sunny Beam does not even seem to finish the search before coming up with "The System Search Has Failed" I presume as well that if it could not find an inverter it would just say nothing found rather than failed! Happy to be put right though.

Been lucky and been tied to 4000TL so bluetooth built in. Try changing the Net ID to something different as I do this on all of mine to allow the laptop and Sunnybeam to connect at the same time. If you have a bluetooth phone, it will also find the device - handy method of checking the inverter is transmitting.

Are you within 1 meter of the inverter when first pairing it?

We have done a few Sunnybeams now and all had to be within a meter when first pairing. OK once paired but must be within a meter when searching?

Make sure you've set the dial to something other than 0 (0 is disabled)

1 only allows one master (Sunny Explorer OR Sunny Beam to connect)

So set it somewhere between 2 and F

Hook up with Sunny Explorer to make sure you can see it, then hook up the Sunny Beam.

Not quite sure if I was quite within 1 Meter but did take it to next to the inverter after it failed to work in the kitchen. Will go back and check for a blutooth signal with my phone this week and take it from there!!!

Never had a problem of being within 1m of the inverter when initially searching, you either have a signal or you dont. More walls etc in the way and you will loose it quickly. Only prob I had was the NetId on my first install, but once set to somewhere between 2 and F, it was plain sailing.
