Hi

Any help appreciated!
Boiler error code says fan problem. Plumber wants to replace but at £200 I first want to be sure that the fan is the problem and not the controller.
The fan has two supplies: 230v (which I have tested and is fine) and then a low DC feed from the boiler controller to the fan controller.
Do any of you know how I can power up the fan to isolate the problem?

Thanks

By pass the controller ????

The fan unit comes with an integral controller. So i need if either the fan or its controller are dead the whole unit needs replacing.

I guess what i need to do is measure if there is any call from the elv dc circuit? There are 4 cables (Y,Or,R,BR) and dont want to risk blowing the main boiler board)

I can only suggest caution, the days when fans were just plain fans have long gone. If it's an electrically commutated motor there's a good chance you'll damage it if you play around by running it with direct mains supply.

Maybe the plumbers forum would be able to give you better advice about the specific fan you have.
