Recommended 5 years in 2014.......I don't see any change by next year....or in the future the way things are going.

Come on it has only been four years, I am sure that the powers that be are just poised to implement the new competence levels over the next year.:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Bah ipf just beat me to it.

even if it did change you can guarantee certsure aka niceic/elecsa would ensure those already on schemes can stay as they would say they have been inspected and demonstrated competence over a number of years and worse case would start knocking out there own nvq equivalent courses like was meant to happen with the QS rules.. with the domestic only 2397 course but instead you can sit a equivalent course online.... there is too much money for lots of people for it to change...

Good little PR stunt guaranteed to get media,
And that's what it's all about.
You don't really believe they care about the people do you ?

This is what is described as a five week wonder course? It seems pretty thorough to me!
Vorty, it seems after reading that everything on the course is described as "understanding this and that" can't see anywhere what actually teaches you how to do things, and from the looks of the title description it is, to me anyway a course maybe for a QS type role, put me right if you feel my thoughts are way off. On relectionit's a DI course not an Electricians course. by the way to tailor your response, I am very much biased against short courses as you may have guessed, there are of course exceptions to the rule, I would be daft not to understand that, may be far to long in the tooth for these new ways, to late to change my views now.:):p:confused::eek::oops::rolleyes:

I suppose in someways you could say this about those who carry the NVQ too in a certain way.

Someone who’s spent the last few yr knocking out houses would probably to a degree be more competent then someone who’s worked on 3 phase and industrial for the same amount of time.

Everyone is going to be different or competent in their own way.

teaches you how to do things
In the beginning of the document it does say this course is for people who have worked on electrotechnical installations "...in excess of 24 months..." Hence they will have had direct experience of installation teaching/practice. It also requires a portfolio of actual physical installations and there are practical fault finding tests on rigs.

Gone are the days when I used to get wolf whistled at... :sob::sob::sob:

I'll agree, to a degree, believe it or not.......everyone is different........but not bleedin' competent.

Wolf whistling a hate crime huh ?
Just another underhanded dishonest lever intended to emasculate the male species. Typical lefty trying to drive it through too

I wonder if it will work the other way round? If a woman wolf whistles at me can I get her arrested???
Granted, she will already be in trouble for breaking out of the loony bin and losing her glasses.... but you get my point....

Don't get me started on all the sexual harassment BS that 'feminists' are spouting.... or the lack of women in STEM subjects... or feminists in general!

If they were adult enough to understand what they are doing and the effect it's having on the workplace, they would realise that their chances of being hired in male dominated professions are getting less and less by the day. No man in his right mind would hire a woman these days as there are far too many complaints being made about minor things that all get lumped into 'sexual harassment'. Who's going to take the risk?

Christ, the current climate is even making me wonder whether it would be a sensible move to take on a girl. If I had a mixed staff, I'd be forever deciding whether or not to take the risk and send a mixed team to a job. Would be a bloody nightmare!

Women! Much prefer working with blokes.

has the horse bolted ,and the scam forgot to shut the door on this one then , what a lot s88t

Thanks sparky chick for the vote of confidence . I really don't want to come across as someone that doesn't support women because I have 2 daughters but some woman's agendas are really transparent

I think you already know the answer to that one.. unlikely because of your male privilege and lets not forget the oppressive misogynistic patriarchy filled with sexual micro-aggressions!

ARGH!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

don't they say a woman, can multi task a mop in one hand& mobile in the other !

As an apprentice, I remember when gals were gals.......at Christmas they chased me all over the factory....ended up at the top of a factory crane crapping myself. I'd never have loved again if they'd have got hold of me. Lovely days.
Mind you, all the lads were pi$$ing themselves when I threw my t-shirt down for 'em. That's all they got, although one or two of the young uns got a bit more the following summer.:)

the 2397 course that @Vortigern linked to is in the process of being discontinued due to lack of uptake apparently. at morris services in bristol who do one of the better training packages for getting in the trade, they have stopped running it. They also say its not needed.. so why woudl people bother payign for it?
@SparkyChick shows not all women have lost the plot on all this rights nonsense,
the stuff i dont get is this transgender lark, people saying they are gender fluid!? Some left wing labour nut was on radio this week saying that to misgender somebody should be a hate crime like racially abusive language and result in diversity awareness courses.. the commies called it re-education! at least the government have seen sense and delayed possibly permanently the idea of being able to pop down the registry office without having ever seen a shrink or psychologist and deciding to change your gender... would have caused many a problem, but since justine greene has been booted from cabinet its been abandoned.

Gender fluid haha - these people that sit around inventing these phrases are truly mad ! And yet they will throw anyone under a bus that refuses to buy into their madness and it's all in the name of fairness and equality. If anyone is guilty of hate crime it is the left lunatic fringe that are anti any society but their own
