Hi

I don't know if anyone can help, but I'm very grateful to anyone who can provide input. I won't go into the full story, but my windows upstairs appear to have an electrical current running through them.

It's only the windows upstairs.

They also set off a radio frequency detector.

Even if the fuse box is powered off, they still give an electrical reading.

It is not a home security system. Just bog standard double glazing.

The house was re-wired (not by me) and the electrician I had over recently noted what a mess it was and the upstairs and downstairs aren't on seperate circuits.

I have a photo, but I can't attatch it. It shows the window handle giving off a 12v reading, the same as my power points.

I also have a video of the windows setting off the radio frequency detector.

My friend, a glazer, came over and used a thermal imaging camera and we noticed the windows had unusual hot spots on the frames.

I have a feeling it may be being used for some kind of surveillance system that I am unaware of.

Very weird question I know, but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

MrSmith just said the same as everyone else except with alllllllllllllllooooooooooooooottttttttttt more words.
Then came out with the conclusion #48

Though I do actually wonder how many wrong 'uns have installed surveillance into HMOs or private rentals because the cameras have got so small and hidable.
Someone do some research into prosecutions, I can't be bothered and need to do the washing up!

Jesus 47 posts & still running, unusually the OP seems to have legged it. Either as said by vortigern earlier, it's a wind up. Or she's been carted off to the funny farm in a strait jacket.:confused:o_O

Anyway we learned something new again today, There is someone out there crazier than us lot :p:D
Can't be, Oh I dunno, you been to CEF lately

Hi Gemma ,
first of all I would like to apologize for the amount of smart-arsed comments posted on your thread. Electricians has a somewhat bloated self of self importance when it comes to electrickery and also have a tendency to forget just how strange and , at times , terrifying electricity can be to people who have had little or no training in the matter. These people were , more often than not , crappy apprentices who were still getting the brews and butty's in their 3rd year and continued to be treated throughout their miserable lives with no respect due to their bitterness at failing to become plumbers.
ok , so first up , the tester you are using is notoriously unreliable and if you touched must object around the house you would get a similar reading.
The radio frequency detector you are using , would probably , depending on which type of conductive metal you are aiming/in contact with , would trigger anyway as most metals are refractive in their affects on radio frequencies and this tester is simply showing that.
In order to install any kind of secret transceiver or listening device , you would need a power supply and normally these are fitted in specialist light bulbs or sockets.. never(not once... ever) have I seen one fitted in a window. The warm spots you are talking about may simply be that your windows have developed a fracture in the seal and are allowing moisture and air in.
Rest easy , ignore the --- clowns on this thread and don't be afraid or intimidated by your lack of knowledge to post again as most of these bullies will be dreaming of unblocking drains when they should be helping people out.
Plungers at the ready , ladies.

If we're all such crap sparks, bullies & clowns why do you bother staying around ? After all, it's obvious that your under the mistaken impression that your better than the rest of us.

I never said that everyone on here is a crap spark.
On the contrary , I have found a number of threads on here to be quite informative , which is why I stick around.... that and the banter.
Being overseas working for the US government leaves me short on quality craic.
And in the event that someone asks for assistance on a matter that they simply know nothing about , and they are obviously ridiculed , then that sounds close to bullying to me.
And me being "better" than you is subjective. One mans tea is another mans coffee.
But I'll take 2 sugars in mine and brown sauce on my butty and make sure you are back with the right change , you pipe strangler.

Hi Pete: No mate, not been in CEF for a while now. Anything good there, at a decent price ?.
Well they have some good stuff Andy trouble is you get lots of differing prices

No argument there mate, each store appears to set it's own prices which is crazy. One thing you can virtually guarantee though, is that the prices are higher than other suppliers. I only use them nowadays as a last resort.

I binned them years ago when their prices month to month were like ERNIE.
