I assume the dishwasher is being fed from an outlet socket ? What size cable ?

A dishwasher is likely to take up to 10 Amps during a heating cycle... protected by a 6A breaker? No wonder its tripping

You cant just uprate the breaker though without checking the size of the cable... as suggested above.

Is there any way to check safely without opening the socket or consumer unit?

Any test certificates for the property giving a reason why this breaker is a 6?
